Diabetes may be a common chronic illness that imposes right smart demands on the individual tending system. Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus, Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus and Gestational Diabetes .Mellitus are the types of diabetes. Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus outcomes from the auto-immune destruction of the insulin producing beta cells in the pancreas. Type 1 diabetes can be depicted from type 2 diabetes by auto-antibody testing and C-peptide test. Type 1 diabetes represents 10% of all diabetic cases. Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus is a metabolic disorder that is characterized by insulin resistance and relative absence of insulin. Approximately 90% of patients suffer from type 2 diabetes. Sudden raise in the blood glucose levels due to placental hormones, during pregnancy leads Gestational Diabetes Mellitus. In addition to this, Type 3 Diabetes Mellitus is portrayed by the insulin resistance to brain which leads to Alzheimer’s disease.

Track: Diabetes and its Complications

High levels of sugars or glucose in blood leads to such a chronic condition called diabetes mellitus. High glucose in blood may cause eye damage, kidney damage and nerve damage. Diabetes increases the risk of various cardiovascular diseases such as coronary artery disease, heart attack, heart stroke and narrowing of arteries which reduces the blood flow through the arteries. High levels of glucose in blood can damage blood vessels and nerves causing loss of sensation in sexual organs, which leads to sexual dysfunction. In addition to this, people with diabetes have more chances to develop infections that may lead to allergies. Diabetes is the main cause for cardiovascular diseases, kidney failure and blindness. Diabetes can also cause foot ulcers and hearing problems, people with diabetes have hearing impairment commonly.

Track: Endocrine Complications

Endocrine disorders are often quite complex, involving a mixed picture of hyposecretion and hypersecretion because of the feedback mechanisms involved in the endocrine system. For example, most forms of hyperthyroidism are associated with an excess of thyroid hormone and a low level of thyroid stimulating hormone. Patients with multi-transfused thalassemia major may develop severe endocrine complications due to iron overload. The anterior pituitary is particularly sensitive to iron overload which disrupts hormonal secretion resulting in hypogonadism, short stature, acquired hypothyroidism and hypoparathyroidism. Glucose intolerance and diabetes mellitus are also common in thalassaemic patients. Delayed or absent puberty and hypogonadism may result in fertility problems which affect enormously the life of thalassemics. Glucose intolerance in adolescence and diabetes mellitus later in life are also frequent complications mainly due to iron overload, chronic liver disease and genetic predisposition. Primary hypothyroidism and hypoparathyroidsm usually appear in the second decade of life; are related to iron overload and may be reversible at an early stage by intensive chelation. Osteopenia and osteoporosis due to a complicated pathogenesis represent prominent causes of morbidity in young adults of both genders with thalassaemia. Early recognition and prevention of the endocrine complications, by early and regular chelation therapy, is mandatory for the improvement of the quality of life and psychological outcome of these patients.

Track: Interventional Cardiology

Interventional cardiology is a branch of cardiology that deals specifically with the catheter, a small, flexible tube, based treatment to repair damaged or weakened vessels, narrowed arteries, or other affected parts of the heart structure. A large number of procedures can be performed on the heart by catheterization. The main advantage of using the interventional cardiology approach is that it avoids scars, pain, and long post-operative recovery. Additionally, interventional cardiology procedure of primary angioplasty is now the gold standard of care for an acute myocardial infarction.

Track: Cardio-metabolic Syndromes

The objective of this track is to known the causes and pathophysiology of obesity, diabetes, and related metabolic maladies, and look for safe mediations and therapeutics. Investigators in this division also have a special emphasis on women's health and on the developmental programming of metabolic diseases.  Our investigators utilize a broad array of research tools including noninvasive imaging, complex whole animal studies on physiology and behavior, and in vitro and ex vivo techniques.  Obesity increases the risk for heart disease and stroke. But it harms more than just the heart and blood vessel system. It's also a major cause of gallstones, osteoarthritis and respiratory problems. Obesity also can lead to heart failure. Having diabetes or pre diabetes puts one at increased risk for heart disease and stroke. One can lower its risk by keeping the  blood glucose (also called blood sugar), blood pressure, and blood cholesterol close to the recommended target numbers—the levels suggested by diabetes experts for good health. Stroke and coronary heart disease can be caused by the same problem – atherosclerosis.

Diabetes may be analysed based on plasma and glucose criteria or A1C criteria. Early in disease diabetes shows no symptoms so blood tests are used to diagnose diabetes and pre-diabetes. Clinical diagnostic in diabetes involve taking blood at a healthcare facility centre or commercial diagnostic centre and sending the sample to a lab for examination. To ensure that test results are accurate lab study of blood of required. Glucose calculating devices used in a health care provider’s office, such as finger-stick devices, are not precise enough for analysis but may be used as a rapid indicator of high blood sugar. Such area of research is highly discussed in ADA annual meeting.

Complementary and alternative medicine is can be well-defined as a "cluster of varied therapeutic and health care arrangements, practices, and medicines that are not presently measured to be part of predictable medicine”. Complementary medicine is used with predictable therapy, whereas alternative medicine is used instead of conventional medicine. In CAM therapies diabetes supplement is widely given to the diabetic patients in. Although some of these therapies may be useful, others can be not so useful or even harmful. Contrary reactions of many CAM therapies are not well known because patients with diabetes often take various diabetes medications, there occurs budding for herbal medicine and herb dietary habit supplement interactions, leading to contrary events.

Track: Diabetic Neuropathy

Diabetic Neuropathy is neuropathic disorders that are associated with diabetes mellitus. These conditions are thought to result from diabetic microvascular injury involving small blood vessels that supply nerves (vasa nervorum) in addition to macrovascular conditions that can culminate in diabetic neuropathy. Relatively common conditions which may be associated with diabetic neuropathy include third nerve palsy; mononeuropathy; mononeuropathy multiplex; diabetic amyotrophy; a painful polyneuropathy; autonomic neuropathy; and thoracoabdominal neuropathy. Diabetic neuropathy affects all peripheral nerves including pain fibers, motor neurons and the autonomic nervous system. It therefore can affect all organs and systems, as all are innervated. There are several distinct syndromes based upon the organ systems and members affected, but these are by no means exclusive. Symptoms vary depending on the nerve(s) affected and may include symptoms other than those listed. Symptoms usually develop gradually over years. Numbness and tingling of extremities, Dysesthesia (abnormal sensation to a body part), Diarrhea, Erectile dysfunction, Urinary incontinence (loss of bladder control), Facial, mouth and eyelid drooping, Vision changes, Dizziness, Muscle weakness are the symptoms.

Diabetic retinopathy, also known as diabetic eye disease, is a medical condition in which damage occurs to the retina due to diabetes and is a leading cause of blindness.

It affects up to 80 per cent of people who have had diabetes for 20 years or more. At least 90% of new cases could be reduced if there were proper treatment and monitoring of the eyes. The longer a person has diabetes, the higher his or her chances of developing diabetic retinopathy. Each year in the United States, diabetic retinopathy accounts for 12% of all new cases of blindness. It is also the leading cause of blindness for people aged 20 to 64 years.

Track: Obesity & Cancer

Extra fat in the body may have harmful effects, like producing hormones and growth factors that affect the way our cells work. Fat cells can also attract immune cells to body tissues which release chemicals that cause long-lasting inflammation. This can raise the risk of several diseases including cancer. People with obesity have chronic low-level or subacute unresolved inflammation, which is associated with increased cancer risk.

One of the strongest links between obesity and cancer is an increased risk of breast and womb cancers in women who are obese after the menopause, and this relates to higher estrogen levels. Overweight people often have increased levels of insulin and insulin-like growth factor-1 which may lead to the development of certain tumours.

Obesity increases the risk for heart disease and stroke. But it harms more than just the heart diagnosis and blood vessel system. It's also a major cause of gallstones, osteoarthritis and respiratory problems. In addition to weight gain is a frequent consequence of heart damaging lifestyle choices such as lack of exercise & a fat laden diet. Obesity also can lead to serious conditions like heart failure, in which your heart can’t pump enough blood to the body. Having diabetes or pre-diabetes puts one at increased risk for heart disease and stroke. One can lower its risk by keeping the blood glucose (also called blood sugar), hypertension, and blood cholesterol close to the recommended target numbers the levels suggested by diabetes experts for good health. Stroke and coronary heart disease can be caused by the same problem atherosclerosis.

The main goal of diabetes management is to restore carbohydrate metabolism to as close to a normal state as possible. To achieve this goal, individuals with an absolute deficiency of insulin require insulin replacement therapy, which is given through injections or an insulin pump. Insulin resistance, in contrast, can be corrected by dietary modifications and exercise. Diabetes is a metabolic disease which can be corrected by transplantation techniques. These different type of diabetic disease can be prevented by islet transplantation or even by artificial pancreas transplantation.

Track: Clinical Diabetes: Case Reports & Studies

Diabetes case reports are in-depth inquiries of an individual, crowd, occasion or public. The data are assembled from a diversity of places by various methods. The case study technique encompasses spotting what happens to, or reconstructing ‘the case history’ of a single participant or group of individuals, i.e. the idiographic approach. Case studies permit an investigator to investigate a topic in far more detailed and minute way. The case study is not itself a research method, but investigators choose methods of data collection and analysis that will generate material suitable for case studies. Most of this evidence is likely to be qualitative but the psychologist might collect numerical data as well and present in various diabetes conference and scientific sessions
